Information
Kfm 94.5 is one of the South African stations I come back to regularly whenever I want something familiar and easy to listen to. The station follows an Adult Contemporary format, but what keeps me listening is not only the music. It’s the way the presenters create a relaxed Western Cape atmosphere throughout the day.
One of my favorite parts of the Saturday schedule is the Kfm Top 40 with Carl Wastie. Even if I already know many of the songs, his energy and interaction with listeners make the countdown feel more entertaining than a simple playlist. It feels like a live event rather than just another music show. I also enjoy how the station mixes international hits with South African artists instead of focusing only on global chart music.
Another highlight is the late-night show with Grandmaster Ready D. His mixes bring a completely different mood to the station and showcase a side of Cape Town’s music culture that you do not always hear on commercial radio. For me, this is one of the most distinctive programs on Kfm 94.5.
That said, the station can sometimes feel a little repetitive during high-rotation music blocks, especially if you listen for several hours in a row. Some songs appear quite frequently, which is common for the format but can become noticeable.
Overall, I think Kfm 94.5 succeeds because it balances strong personalities, popular music, and a genuine connection to local life. It is a station that sounds modern while still feeling closely connected to its community.
